Beware - no fraud detection or assistance handling fraudulent purchases

My elderly mother's account was hijacked by a scammer and more than $16,000.00 of fraudulent purchases were made without her knowledge. Her account normally has little activity so this $16,000 worth of purchases made in 2 days should have been flagged by Raise!
Raise has provided no assistance to help gather information for the police report.
Raise has no evening or weekend support to help for an urgent situation like to Block the account!
Raise only has a online chat availability with a robot program that doesn't know what fraud on my account is!
I could not get into the account once it was hijacked and I could not reset the password and I could not get a human's attention for 3 days in order to block the account! By that time my poor mother was broke! I cannot even get them to provide a list of purchases made.
I am totally frustrated with this company and their inability and unwillingness to help.

Wow.... it worked!

Wow, this company really needs good reviews. People only review you if you screwed up. Reading all these reviews, I decided NOT to use Raise. But after some back-and-forth, I really, really, really needed to save a few dollars on my big purchase at Academy Sports. So, I took a chance. And it worked out! I bought a $300, and two $100 gift cards. And received all three in a single email about three minutes later. And I IMMEDIATELY used them for my purchase online at Academy. And all three worked! So, I can't speak to the issues from people not using the cards right away or having issues and then not getting any support from Raise about the problems. I'm just here to say a typical transaction went without a hitch. I may or may not give them a shot again in the future. The reviews really are pretty bad here.

Satisfied

I listed three cards on the site. They sold in a few hours. I did not even have to mail them, just typed in the card numbers. I got paid in three business days. Highly recommended.

False Advertising Practices

Visited the site and was offered 15% off my first order, so after signing up for emails, texts, etc. I received my promo code and used it to purchase a $100 Sam's Club gift card for $85. A few minutes after placing the order I received a notification that the order had been cancelled without any additional information. I tried to use their chat feature to speak with someone because it says they are available 9 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday. After fighting with the autobot for 5 minutes it finally transferred me to customer service only to inform me that no one was working and an email would be sent on my behalf.

Trash

I opened an account, tried to buy some cards but they immediately cancelled the order and suspended my account... I still was never told why.

Not worth it

They take a huge cut of your sale but that is not my issue. My main issue is that I sold a card and cannot cash out. They ask a ton of invasive questions which I've answered 5 times and they still are not satisfied. I cannot cash out my money and my gift card is no longer available to me.

Terrible Customer Service!

Been using the site for a few years as of today (6/16/22). Purchased three Rite Aid physical gift cards ($258) three months ago. Received only two. Contacted CS and they said I had to wait for the other one, which eventually did arrive. I tried using that third one and it kept encountering "Card error" at multiple terminals at 2 different stores.
Contacted Raise CS again and was told that I had to call Rite Aid to get the issue resolved. They refused to stand by their so called "1 Year Guarantee"
Why is it up to the customer to rectify a product that they (Raise) sold and expect me to waste more time with a third party all for a few dollars savings. Refused to let me return the non working gift card for one that does.

And as the reviews clearly show on here that I'm by no means alone.

Thanks for not standing by your products Raise.!

Since so many people complain about the gift card balance all gone after 100 days and raise doesn't bother and sorry u are screwed I cannot help haha kinda thing. While I am one of the victims, there is something painful I learnt from the 10 hrs of panic and anger on phone calls to raise, to Wholefood and TJMaxx store managers and customer services. Meanwhile, I am a mother of a crying 10 months old baby who I was carrying him at the TJMaxx store trying to resolved the 0 balance giftcard (I purchased from raise) problem with no results and no help. I learnt this lesson the most painful way. I cannot believe I let myself go through such terrible experience because of a mistake of buying their giftcards on raise. I learnt This is how unsafe it is about giftcard is that, because we don't have the original purchase receipt! I thought the TJMaxx physical giftcard was safer but not really. The person who sold us the card report lost or stolen card and get his card replaced and zero out our balance. Because TJMaxx will only ask for the original receipt and credit card proof of payment, if u can tell them the purchase date they can help you. But of course we Will never know that piece of information. And the store asked where u got the gift card from, once they know it's from raise they said sorry we cannot help u at all. Anyways, we better not buy anymore gift cards unless u use it right away. Or prepare to cry and panic at the store when u wanna use it to make a few purchases for your baby and family. That's the only suggestions most people will tell me. Do u guys have any "buyer be aware" experience to share or any painful stories like mine to share?

A:

DO NOT BUY from this company. I entertain clients and t heir dining cards were a great benefit for me. I purchased over 70 Landry's, Olive Garden and Darden Gift eCards. I verified the amounts of ALL the cards when they arrived and all were valid and marked "Does not Expire." I used a few with no problems. Suddenly ALL the cards I had were invalid. In checking with the restaurant companies ALL were redeemed all over the US during March 2016. None in my own state. All were scanned, that is, a physical certificate and not a mere number was used meaning the cards were either resold by Raise or by their "trusted" card seller. I caleld Raise and for over 2 hours went over all the card numbers and was assured they would stand behind their cards. In fact I received emails today stating almost all were outside their "100 days guarantee" and I was out of luck. My credit card companies would not allow me to dispute the charges. I have nothing good to say about this company. Do business with them at your own risk and NEVER keep a card with "no expiration date" over 100 days.

Answer This Question

Q:

I purchased electronic Whole Foods gift cards months ago. I tried using them recently, but Whole Foods won't accept them because the gift cards do not come with pin numbers. Because I purchased the e-gift cards from Raise longer than 100 days ago, they won't reimburse me. They won't even give me credit for the money I'm losing out on. How is it that they can get away with this? What does one need to do to get justice?

A:

If you purchased your gift card with a credit card you can initiate a chargeback with your credit card company. Tell them you paid for a voucher/gift card of a certain value and you did not get what was promised to you.

by Caroline708 - March 13, 2016

A:

If you dispute a credit card with Raise, they will freeze your accounts, not let you access them, and not let you buy gift cards.

A:

I did get a refund from raise but refuse the charges with your credit card company they should back you because it is fraud, Raise is a terrible company, they do not have their act together at all, a competitor who knows what they are doing should go in and dominate, it is a great idea, messed up company, stay away
